Book Club - The Private Eye Volume Two

Now that we're going to be spending a lot of time at home, we need something to fill in the time. As a whole class, here are some media that we could all consume together. I've called this a book club, but they needn't be books.

Write your answers down and be prepared to discuss them in class.

Before you read:

1. In a society that is so protective of their identities, how strong do you think their relationships are?

2. Can you really get to know someone without knowing what they look like or what their real name is? Would it be any different from only knowing someone by their avatar over the internet?

3. What kinds of things would people want to hide from others?

While you read:

1. What have the characters in the story been hiding from other people?

2. What qualities does Gramps have that reflects today's society?

3. What does the existence of the dam nicknamed the 'Wonderwall' imply? Is it realistic?

After you read:

1. What did you think of the ending?

2. What's your opinion of the comic (talk about the story, characters, art style, concepts, etc.)?

3. Think about the various technological products you've owned in the past. Could they be of any use to you know? Could they still be operational far into the future?

4. What would say is the main message of the story is?

5. Do we need to take privacy more seriously? How could we protect ourselves better?
